WORCESTERSHIRE director of cricket Steve Rhodes has surrendered a 24-year-old wicket-keeping record to Surrey's Ben Foakes.
Rhodes claimed nine dismissals when behind the stumps for England 'A' against Transvaal in Johannesbury in 1993.
But now Foakes has surpassed that achievement with 10 victims for England Lions - the modern day equivalent to the England 'A' team.
He claimed five catches in the first innings and three catches and two stumpings in the second innings of the four-day first class game against Sri Lanka 'A' in Dambulla.
Rhodes went onto win 11 Test caps and make nine ODI appearances at senior level for his country during two decades as Worcestershire's first choice keeper.
Meanwhile, Worcestershire batsman Joe Clarke will be hoping to return to Lions action in the five match ODI series with Sri Lanka 'A' which gets underway in Dambulla tomorrow (Thursday).
Clarke was excluded from the side for the two four-day matches with the Sri Lankans which ended with honours even at 1-1.
The five match schedule:
March 2 Lions v Sri Lanka 'A' in Dambulla
March 4 Lions v Sri Lanka 'A' in Dambulla
March 6 Lions v Sri Lanka 'A' in Kurunegala
March 9 Lions v Sri Lanka 'A' in Colombo
March 11 Lions v Sri Lanka 'A' in Colombo
