WORCESTERSHIRE all-rounder Moeen Ali hit a rapid 70 in England’s four-wicket win against a Bangladesh Cricket Board Select XI in their opening tour match.

Jos Buttler (80 not out from 64 balls) and Moeen put on a crucial stand of 139 to lift England to victory in Fatullah as they defeated a team containing several Tigers internationals.

The hosts amassed 309-9, inspired by a majestic 121 from 91 balls by Imrul Kayes, with Test captain Mushfiqur Rahim, contributing 51.

Buttler, captaining the England side in the absence of Eoin Morgan, and Moeen batted with aplomb, as they sealed victory with 23 balls to spare.

The duo initially rotated the strike, with Moeen the more adventurous of the two and he brought up his 50 off only 40 deliveries.

Buttler reached his run-a-ball half-century in the next over.

The result was never in doubt from there, even though Moeen was dismissed with one still required, as England sealed a confidence-boosting win before the three-match ODI series starts in Dhaka on Friday.
