WORCESTERSHIRE Rapids crashed to 53 all out as they lost by 96 runs in the NatWest T20 Blast to holders Lancashire Lightning at Emirates Old Trafford.

The County were bowled out in 13.5 overs for their lowest T20 score and have no game now until they visit Durham Jets on Thursday.

Lancashire were put into bat and restricted to 149-5 by the North Group high-fliers.

But, in reply, Nathan Buck picked up three wickets in his opening spell and left-arm spinner Stephen Parry returned 5-13 in four overs for Lightning.

Rapids' Jack Shantry bowled his four overs in one spell and made the first breakthrough when Martin Guptill (6) went for a pull and was caught by Matt Henry.

Skipper Daryl Mitchell accounted for Karl Brown (17) as the ball looped up to Brett D'Oliveira at mid-wicket.

Alviro Petersen reached a half-century off 38 balls before D'Oliveira trapped Liam Livingstone lbw for a rapid 28.

Mitchell took a fine catch to dismiss Steven Croft from a full-bloodied shot off Joe Leach, who then had Jordan Clark pouched in the deep by Alexei Kervezee.

Rapids' bowlers kept the home batsmen in check as Leach returned 2-34, Mitchell 1-21, Shantry 1-22 and D'Oliveira 1-24.

But the visitors lost in-form Tom Kohler-Cadmore to the first ball of the reply from Buck, caught on the leg side by on-loan keeper Tom Moores.

Mitchell (5) also went down the leg side to the Moores-Buck combination and Kervezee (4) holed out at mid-off off Clark.

Joe Clarke (9) provided Buck with a third success as he was caught at point and it became 26-5 when Ross Whiteley (1) was stumped down the leg side off Parry.

Parry had Ben Cox (6) taken at deep square leg and D'Oliveira, the one Rapids player to make double figures with 16, swept at the spinner and George Edwards held the chance.

The innings ended swiftly with Leach (6), Henry (0) and Barnard (0) all departing in one over from Parry.
