WORCESTERSHIRE launch their first-class cricket season tomorrow when they take on Oxford MCCU in a three-day match in the Parks.
The County’s director of cricket, Steve Rhodes, has named a 12-strong squad for the penultimate warm-up fixture before the new LV= County Championship campaign gets under way.
Included in the squad is former Oxford MCCU graduate, paceman Charlie Morris.
Morris started last season in the Oxford side and twice dismissed England one-day player Samit Patel in the game against Nottinghamshire.
He has cited his appearances for the university against first-class counties as good preparation for when he made his Worcestershire breakthrough last summer which yielded 52 Championship wickets.
New signing Alex Gidman will make his first-class debut for the County following his move from neighbours Gloucestershire on a two-year contract.
Worcestershire (from): Oliver, Mitchell, Fell, Gidman, Kervezee, Kohler-Cadmore, Cox, D’Oliveira, Andrew, Shantry, Morris, Leach.
