DARYL Mitchell returns to skipper Worcestershire in the two-day friendly match with Warwickshire at Edgbaston starting today.

Mitchell was on MCC duty in Abu Dhabi during the 50-over and two-day friendlies with Gloucestershire at New Road.

He scored 54 for the MCC in their first innings batting at number five against Yorkshire.

County director of cricket Steve Rhodes has made six changes from the side who impressed in the drawn two-day fixture with Gloucestershire as other squad members are given a chance.

It is another indication of the greater strength in depth available with the return to fitness of Gareth Andrew, the signing of Alex Gidman and England Under-19 duo Joe Clarke and Ed Barnard becoming fully fledged members of the County staff for the first time this summer.

Clarke and Barnard have been drafted in against the Bears along with Chris Russell, who skippered the seconds in the two-day fixture at Loughborough MCCU, Joe Leach and Brett D’Oliveira.

The County dominated the two-day drawn game with Gloucestershire apart from a late-order batting collapse after tea on the opening day.

Tom Kohler-Cadmore hit 85 and Tom Fell 64 in a total of 271 before encouraging bowling from Ross Whiteley (4-48), Andrew (3-36), Charlie Morris and Jack Shantry in removing the visitors for 168.

Worcestershire: Mitchell, Oliver, Kohler-Cadmore, Gidman, Clarke, Kervezee, Whiteley, Leach, D’Oliveira, Barnard, Russell.
