FLY-HALF Dorian Jones is set to return to Dragons to fulfill the final year of his contract when his loan spell at Worcester Warriors comes to an end.

The Welshman, who has struggled for game-time at the Pro14 outfit this season, joined Warriors in late March on a deal until the conclusion of the 2017-18 campaign.

Since his arrival at Sixways, Jones has made an impression as he has started in their past two Aviva Premiership fixtures.

As we reported last month, the 25-year-old who is the son of ex-Worcester player Kingsley Jones expressed his desire to extend his stay at Warriors beyond this term.

“I have got another year left at the Dragons if I want it,” Jones said.

“But the aim here will be to impress as much as possible.

“I just want to focus on my performance and everything else will take care of itself.”

But Jones was not named among the 19 players who will be leaving Dragons in the summer.

When asked to clarify the situation with Jones, Warriors director of rugby Alan Solomons said: “He is under contract with the Dragons – that’s what I understand.

“What I think he was saying (to you) was that he had an option to be released.

“But as far as Warriors are concerned he is a player who is on loan. That’s the end of it.”

Summer signings Duncan Weir and Jono Lance will battle it out with Jamie Shillcock for the number 10 shirt next season.

But with Sam Olver poised to join Ealing Trailfinders, Solomons is understood to be looking for a fourth out-and-out fly-half to compete for the position.

Solomons admitted he had yet to meet with Tom Heathcote but intended to hold talks with him later this week with his future expected to be on the agenda.

The 26-year-old stand-off, whose deal is due to expire, has returned to full training after recovering from a long bout of concussion.

"We will probably chat this week," Solomons added.

Warriors' chief hinted there could be two more new faces added to his squad for the 2018-19 season.

He also said he expected to complete his recruitment drive by next week.
