WORCESTER Warriors chief Alan Solomons is looking forward to unleashing Ben Te’o against a “dangerous” Sale Sharks side in the Aviva Premiership on Saturday (3pm).

The explosive centre is poised to make his first appearance for Warriors in more than five months when they meet Sale at the AJ Bell Stadium after returning from England duty.

Solomons has yet to see the 31-year-old in blue and gold having suffered an ankle injury a week prior to the director of rugby’s arrival in late October.

After several months of rehab to regain full fitness Te’o played in all five of England’s Six Nations games and is now expected to replace the injured Ryan Mills in Warriors’ midfield.

“I have not seen Ben play yet,” Solomons said.

“I remember him during his time at Leinster but I have not had the privilege of seeing him play here. Both him and Jackson Willison can play at 12 or 13. Jacko is a 12 but he played at 13 with Millsy and Ben can play in either position so we will just look at what is best on the day.”

Rumours have circulated over Ben Te’o’s future this season with Bath, Leicester Tigers and Sale all understood to be chasing him.

But according to a report in The Rugby Paper last month the ex-Leinster ace whose contract does not expire until the end of next season has decided to stay at Sixways.

“Ben is here and we are happy to have him at Warriors,” Solomons said.

“I think he is going to make a big contribution and I am really looking forward to seeing him play.”

Asked whether Te’o will be at Warriors in the 2018-19 campaign, Solomons insisted he was "contracted to the club for next season”.

Back rower David Denton is also expected to be available for selection after representing Scotland.

But flanker Sam Lewis and scrum-half Francois Hougaard look set to miss the Sale clash due to ankle injuries.

Warriors will play their first competitive match since slumping to a 34-5 defeat to Leicester Tigers three weeks ago.

And having lost 18-14 to 14-man Sale at Sixways in early December Solomons refused to shy away from the task facing his side.

Warriors are second from bottom, 12 points clear of the drop zone while Sale are in eighth position, chasing a top six spot.

“That’s not going to be an easy game as they are a very good side and have hit good form,” Solomons said.

“They are a solid all-round side with some X Factor backs.

“They are also at home where they are quite dangerous.”
