VERSATILE back Ryan Mills vows Worcester Warriors will not roll over for play-off chasing Leicester Tigers at a sold-out Sixways tomorrow (4pm).

The stand-in fly-half is urging his team-mates to play with pride in their final Aviva Premiership match of a turbulent campaign.

Fourth-placed Tigers need just two points to guarantee their place in the end-of-season play-offs for a 13th successive year.

But Mills, 24, insists second-from-bottom Warriors must lay down a marker for next term and end their nine-year losing streak against the former champions.

“We are by no means finished for this season,” said Mills.

“We can’t really change much in terms of our league position but we’ve done so much these over these last few months and proved to ourselves and a lot of people we could be a lot better than where we are in the league.

“If we let that slip away it shows a lot about us as individuals and characters.

“If you are a player leaving the club, then leave the other boys with a good impression and if you’re going to a new club, remember you are judged every time you walk on to the pitch.

“Leicester might be fighting for the top four, but we still have personal ambitions and personal pride so we will not be rolling over to let them get into the play-offs."

Warriors have won three of their last four home matches since director of rugby Gary Gold took charge at the end of January.

Reigning champions Saracens, basement boys Bristol and fifth-placed Bath have all tasted defeat at Sixways, while Warriors picked up a losing bonus point from a high-scoring loss to Exeter Chiefs.

But the hosts will be hamstrung for their curtain-closing clash by the absence of first-choice props Nick Schonert (finger injury) and Val Rapava Ruskin (suspension).

Line-out specialist Chris Vui (niggle) and hard-working back-row Sam Lewis (broken nose) are also missing.

Tigers have won their last 14 meetings with Warriors since slipping to a 23-19 loss at Sixways in March 2008.

Exeter-born Mills, who captained Warriors in their 16-14 defeat at Newcastle Falcons last Friday, admits he is satisfied with the direction of the club.

Mills pledged his future to Warriors last month despite speculation linking him with a move to several rival clubs after his home was put on the market.

“If I was leaving, the house needed to be sold and if I was staying I wanted to move,” he said.

“It was the right time to put the house on the market."

He continued: “I spoke to a few people and I had been talking to the club for quite a while.

“I wanted to stay at Worcester – that was my first option.

“I was sure I wanted to stay but I just needed some assurances from the club for stuff to be done behind the scenes and management just to show the club still had the same ambitions as the players.

"I wanted the club to give me the confidence that I was staying for the right reason and not just staying to battle at the bottom of the league again next season.

"We want to be a top six club and we needed the club to make some decisions for that to happen.”

Mills has slotted 91 points in 11 Premiership matches at stand-off this term, including a match-winning 24-point haul in their triumph over Saracens in February.

But Mills is keen to battle it out for the inside centre slot next season.

“Gary has come in and done a great job over the past couple of months and it was unsure whether he was staying or leaving and that was one of the main things for me,” he said.

“I like Gary and what he’s done and I think it would have been a real shame to have let that slip away and let him go because we would have had to start again and rebuild."

He added: “Edward Griffiths has come in behind the scenes and done a great job with some stuff off the field so a combination of the two have been a great addition."
