HIGH flying Fairfield Villa have booked their place in the Les James Cup Final for the first time in their history.

Villa battled their way to a 3-0 triumph over Midland League Three side Boldmere Sports and Social Falcons - but the contest proved much closer than the score suggests.

Ellis Blakemore fired Villa into an early lead before goalkeeper Mark Wright kept Boldmere at bay with two top class saves.

From Wright's first save, Villa broke back upfield for Ryan Molesworth to make it 2-0.

Then Connor Collins cracked home a third to register his 100th goal for Villa from 104 appearances.

Villa spokesman Paul Oakes insisted: "Every credit to Boldmere, as they were a really good side. Boldmere had already put out Division Two sides Coton Green and Redditch Borough, so we knew it wouldn't be easy.

"It's great credit to manager Wayne Davies and his team of Lewis Smith and Lee Williams, because they've really turned things around this season.

"We'd already booked a curry night in Bromsgrove after the game which proved to be a great occasion".

Villa now face either Smithswood Firs or NKF Burbage in the final at a date and venue still to be confirmed.

Busy Villa have already fought their way through to this season's Worcester Junior Cup Final.

They've also set their sights on a third trophy as they entertain local rivals Feckenham this Thursday night in the Evesham Hospital Cup.

If successful, Villa will then take on Alcester Town in the semi-final on Saturday.

Otherwise Villa will return to Midland League Two action with a trip to Barnt Green Spartak.
