FAIRFIELD Villa fired themselves into the Les James Cup quarter finals with a fabulous 7-2 triumph over Birmingham Tigers.

But it wasn't all plain sailing for Villa as Tigers took the lead with their first first attack of the game.

Villa recovered to go 2-1 in front before Tigers grabbed a second and equalising goal on the stroke of half time.

The second half was a different story as Villa took charge and ran riot.

Villa spokesman Paul Oakes said: "We looked a completely different side in the second half and we could have gone onto win by double figures.

"We really made hard work of things in the opening half and when Tigers took the lead, it looked as though we were in for another difficult afternoon."

Danny DJ Pitt led the way with a hat-trick with Connor Collins converting two more. Jarrad Hill and Ryan Molesworth made it seventh heaven for Villa who now visit Knowle FC in the last eight of the competition.

Villa turn their attentions to Midland League Division Two action on Saturday when they travel to bottom placed namesakes Pelsall Villa who play at Walsall Wood's ground.

Fairfield face the prospect of playing without Ellis Blakemore who has signed for Northern Premier League side Halesowen Town and made his debut for the Yeltz in their goalless draw against Shaw Lane last Saturday.

Oakes added: "Ellis is the third player who has left us for Halesowen Town in recent times following Connor Collins and Stuart Hall - so we must be doing something right."
