ALVECHURCH remain amongst the early season frontrunners in Evo-Stik Northern Premier League Division One South after bagging a 2-0 win at Belper Town.

Goals in each half from Danny Dubidat and Babucar Sauane was enough to seal the points.

Church boss Ian Long said: "We did a very professional job in testing conditions.

"Apart from the win, I was equally pleased with the way we defended and the fact we kept a clean sheet."

Recent signing from Lye Town Alex Dallinson, recovered from injury and came off the bench to feature at Belper.

Long has also added former Redditch United utility player McCauley Manning to his squad.

Manning, who has also had a recent spell at Highgate United, was a close season target for Long.

Although Manning travelled to Belper, he didn't feature in the game. but the fact that Manning isn't cup-tied means he could come into contention for Saturday's trip to Cambridge City in the FA Trophy.

Ryan Winwood has returned to full training following injury but Ash Carter remains a doubt for the trophy tie after picking up an injury at Belper.

But Church will be missing Tom Turton for the Cambridge contest after the midfield man picked up five bookings.

Long added: "The squad is looking good at the moment, but it needs to be as we're playing catch-up with our fixtures.

"But I would have to release players if I wanted to bring anyone else in."
