JOSH Poysden proved why he's one of the best leg spinners in the country this week by taking bottom of the table Brockhampton apart.

The impressive Poysden was almost unplayable as he blew Brockhampton away by picking up figures of seven for 13 from 9.5 fantastic overs.

Poysden paved the way for Barnt Green to bow out this season with a comprehensive nine wicket win and finish their Birmingham League Premier campaign in fifth place.

Barnt Green skipper Andy Sutton was quick to praise Poysden's performance and said: "For the first 10 to 12 overs, it was just a regulation pitch. Then Josh came on and showed just what a high quality bowler he is.

"He was superb and the Brockhampton batsmen just kept missing or nicking him. I tried to back him up with attacking field placings, while Josh kept on putting the ball in the right place".

Sutton had already prepared the way by capturing the prize wicket of in-form Worcestershire batsman Daryl Mitchell for 17.

The Barnt Green skipper who is also a full time coach at Worcester where he is Head of Performance with the Boys Pathway scheme and quipped: "At least I'll have the bragging rights when I go back to work next week. I'll be able to remind Daryl I got him out."

Brockhampton were duly bowled out for 102 and Barnt Green then knocked off the runs to reach 106 for one in just 10.1 overs.

Sutton also singled out the contribution made by Aussie overseas player James Psarakis who polished Brockhampton off by scoring a boundary laden 61 not out off just 26 balls which included 11 fours and two sixes.

He said: "James hasn't scored the amount of runs for us that he would have liked - but he's been absolutely fantastic for us.

"When you get somebody like Knowle and Dorridge's George Worker, then he puts every other overseas player in the shade.

"But people have to remember that Worker is already an established international, while James is only 20 and still learning the game.

"James has been brilliant for us, both on and off the pitch, a great bloke and I'd welcome him back with open arms."
