DROITWICH Spa got their pre-season off to a winning start with a 1-0 success over West Midlands League side Kington Town.

Jack Allerton’s goal on 70 minutes was enough for the Saltmen at King George's Playing Fields.

Matt Oliver in the Spa goal did not have a save of note to make while Macauley Finch, Nick Seabourne and James Lemon missed chances at the other end.

Bradley Burgess, Seabourne and Lemon combined to tee up Allerton for the only goal.

Spa host Malvern Town in their next friendly on Saturday (3pm) before visiting new landlords Stourport Swifts on Wednesday (7.45pm).

Meanwhile, Droitwich will visit Hereford side Pegasus Juniors in their first foray into the Buildbase FA Vase.

The first qualifying round tie at the West Midlands League Premier Division outfit will be on Saturday, September 9.

The winners will head to Shifnal Town on Saturday, September 23.
