OUTSTANDING Owen Perry produced a performance way beyond his years to help Bromsgrove Tennis Club's Men's F side secure a stunning 6-0 success over Droitwich in Division 9E of the Worcestershire League.

Junior player Perry was making his first appearence for the side and held his nerve superbly to help himself and partner James Skinner pull off a tense tie-break to make certain of a clean sweep for the side.

Previous efforts from Paul Douglas and partner Mark Wilson, plus the pairing of Rob Kindon and Charlie Tait helped make certain of maximum points and strengthen second place in the table with a game in hand over the leaders.

Bromsgrove's Mens A team weren't quite so fortunate after they lost out on sets against Division 2 leaders Manor Park B.

The match ended 3-3 after the junior pairing of Jim Round and Joe Hart won a closely contested final rubber to bring the match score level at 3-3.

The combinations of Steve and Roy Halfpenny, plus Luke Petit and Jaspal Sambi also won a rubber apiece before the side finally lost out 7-8 on sets.

Bromsgrove Ladies D team had a splendid 5-1 win over Bewdley D in Division 7E.

The combinations of Lesley Hodson and Ros Cooke, together with Alison Douglas and Carol Cornellisen both won two rubbers while Catherine Maund and Jane Corbett made it five.

The Ladies C team lost to Stourbridge E on sets after finishing 3-3 in Division 7E.

Isabelle O'Connor and Connie Wedelich won two rubbers with Steph Armstrong and Marie Hackett making it three.

Bromsgrove Ladies E went down 4-2 to Droitwich E in Division 7E but not before Di Horton and Claire Hancock had shown great courage in coming back from 5-1 down in the final set of their opening match only to lose out on a tie-break.

Undaunted, they won their next rubber while Avril Pugh and Chris Mitchell claimed the extra rubber.
