DROITWICH were left to rue not putting enough runs on the board as well as not forcing home an early advantage in the field in a four-wicket home defeat to Redditch.

Despite veteran Paul Bryan’s patient 55 not out no other batsmen was able to stick with him as Spa could only post 166 all out in Worcestershire Cricket League Division One and crucially failed to bat out their overs.

Ash Fearnall chipped in with 32 and Jordan Renau made 26 but they were unable to convert into bigger scores as Waqas Ali claimed 4-31.

Redditch were reduced to 1-2 in reply as Max Young and Jack Sealey picked up a wicket apiece.

But Brandon Weal (47) and captain Russell Southwick (59) put on a century stand to swing the game back in the visitors' favour.

Spinners Jake Young (3-55) and Martyn Davies ensured the visitors had to work for the victory which was achieved with the extra overs not used up by Spa.

There were two centuries by wicketkeepers as the seconds and thirds picked up Division Five winning draws against Netherton and Enville respectively.

Dave Huntbatch blazed 114 and James King contributed 74 as the seconds rattled up 261-5.

Occasional spinner Ash Walton then grabbed 6-43 before Netherton’s last pair batted out the final five overs to clinch a draw as Droitwich were joined at the top of Division Two by Belbroughton.

Skipper Scott Fenn led from the front by hitting 125 in the thirds' total of 225-5 which proved too daunting for opponents Enville who crawled to 119-6.

The fourths found the perfect blend of youth and experience to beat Enville by three wickets in an exciting last-over finish.

A junior attack of Nate Walker-Cox (1-13), Matt Blackmore (3-41), Cam Mosely (3-26) and Jacey Foster (2-10) restricted the hosts to 152-9.

The Droitwich reply seemed to be floundering at 30-4 before veteran Steve Perry (40) and Mosely (31) steadied the ship.

Zak Mountford and Foster knocked off 20 runs from the final four overs to clinch a fantastic win.

On Saturday the firsts travel to Stourport, Oldswinford are welcomed to St Peter’s Fields by the seconds and Harborne provide the opposition for the thirds and fourths.
