DROITWICH'S Witton Middle School will represent West Bromwich Albion in the Premier League Under 11s final at Chelsea.

They bid to be crowned national champions on Monday, May 22, at Stamford Bridge after winning the Baggies' own tournament.

Witton competed against three schools who had also made it through the qualifiers from a total of 84 football teams.

They topped the group and were top seeds for the semi-finals which produced a 2-0 victory over Bromsgrove's Catshill Middle School.

The final against a tough Abbey Junior School side from Smethwick ended 0-0 and demanded extra-time.

Witton's Joe Hurdman broke the deadlock with a smart finish after the ball rebounded off the bar from a long-range Archie Duerden strike.

The Droitwich youngsters remained solid and held on to claim the prize after scoring 35 goals throughout the tournaments and conceding just once.

Witton also progressed in the National League Trust Under 11s tournament with the hope of playing at Wembley during the Championship play-off final.

They comfortably won all four group games in qualifying without conceding before battling to a 1-0 final victory over Hagley.

The boys now take part in the south-west regionals at Bath City on Monday for the chance to play in the national finals at Wembley.
