MANAGER Paul Smith says his side will head to Cleethorpes with confidence after fighting out a first leg draw in their FA Vase semi-final.

Sporting opened the scoring through Jason Cowley's first half header but were pegged back in the second period when Luke Edwards could only put past his own keeper as Town reacted well.

Smith said: "It (the second leg) will be as difficult as it was today really.

"We are very good on our day and our first half performance justifies that. We'll go into it confident that we can get a result and that's as much as you can hope for in an FA Vase semi-final second leg.

"I thought first half we were absolutely tremendous and head and shoulders the better side.

"We got one and it's a shame we couldn't go on and get a second in that period.

"They were better from the first five minutes of the second half and grew into it but I'll take 1-1. I thought it was a very good game of football.

"If you asked both mangers we'd have both taken this with the tie being alive going into the second leg.

"They go into it as favourites now being at home but our away record is second to none.

"We'll go up there with confidence."
