BROMSGROVE’S teen racing sensation Jake Clark is getting a taste of the upper class for his new season.

The North Bromsgrove High School pupil competed at Brands Hatch on the March 4 and 5 for his first event of the season and finished all four of his races in the top five.

He was third in his last race which gave him his first podium finish of the season despite the wet and windy conditions.

This was the 14-year-old’s first race meeting and outing on a new, bigger bike after winter testing in Spain throughout January.

His mother, Jill Clark, said: “He really enjoys the freedom and feeling that he gets on the bike, it has been his dream to become a professional bike rider ever since the age of three.

“He puts in so much time and effort, he and his dad are always out cleaning and fixing the bike and he is a real petrol head.”

In his new racing class, Thundersport Superteens GP3, he is riding a restricted Aprilia RRV450R machine which is described on Thundersport GB's website as “one of the most desirable racing motorcycles in the world.”

Jake hopes this year he can achieve a top three position overall in the class and progress to fulfil his dream of turning professional.

He completed his novice season in 2016 at Thundersport GB in the Aprilia Super Teen Challenge, riding an Aprilia RS 125.

It was an exciting year for him as it was his first time racing on major circuits including Brands Hatch and Donnington Park.

A highlight of the year was his first place finish at Cadwell Park in which he also recorded two third place results giving him three podium finishes out of the four races.

In his spare time, apart from biking, Jake has taken up boxing and plays other sports such as rugby which he plays throughout the season to help keep him in racing condition.
