BROMSGROVE tennis players missed out in a vital promotion match against rivals Kidderminster in the Worcestershire League.

The mixed C side had to settle for a losing draw against Kidderminster A in a match played through wind and rain.

Bromsgrove pairings of Voitek Niedzwiedz and Veroika Kumherova, together with Di Inchley and Trevor Errington had trouble adapting to the courts and conditions.

Inchley and Errington lost their opening set 4-6 but stormed back to take the next sets 6-0, 7-5 but then lost out in their second match 3-6, 1-6.

Niedzwiedz and Kumherova lost their opening match to a second set tie break but hit back to easily win the next match 6-4, 6-1.

But that didn't prevent Kidderminster from picking up the bonus point which now leaves them top of Division 4E while Bromsgrove are third with just one match remaining.

The ladies G team of Claire Carter, Sue Corfield, Di Horton and Fay Gileswere lost out to local rivals David Lloyd Bromsgrove D in Division 10E.

The match finished 2-2, with the set score also level on 5-5 but David Lloyd sealed victory by 45-40 on games won.
