FA VASE fever is beginning to hit Bromsgrove Sporting ahead of their trip to Watford based Sun Sports early next month.

Sporting travel to the Spartan South Midlands League side on January 7 looking to book their place in the last 16 of the competition.

It's the furthest Sporting have ever reached in the Vase and already the match has grabbed the imagination.

Sporting manager Paul Smith confirmed the club had already organised two fully booked up coachloads of supporters with a third one filling up fast.

That was in addition to a number of supporters who would be making their own way to Hertfordshire.

Smith said: "I don't know whether Sun Sports realise what is about to hit them! They have an average home attendance of around 30 and I think Sporting officials have been in touch with them to warn there could be as many as 300 supporters descending on their ground."

Smith has left nothing to chance and has already run the rule over his rivals.

He revealed: "We didn't have a game last Tuesday evening so I drove down to Watford and watched Sun Sports beat Welwyn Garden City 4-0 in the league Cup.

"They are a good side and play at a higher level then us - but I certainly don't fear them!

Sporting are currently on a tremendous run of form and have yet to be beaten this season.

A proud Smith admitted: "If you had told me at the start of the season that we would be unbeaten in the league by Christmas Day, into the last 32 of the FA Vase and the final of the Worcestershire Senior Urn, then I'd have bitten your hand off.

"But we've won nothing yet - they don't hand out the league title at Christmas."
