FABULOUS Fairfield Villa cemented second spot in Midland League Division Two after putting opponents Bloxwich Town to the sword by a 4-1 margin following a sublime second half show.

It followed a woeful first half display of finishing as Villa squandered a series of gilt-edged chances.

Spokesman Paul Oakes explained: "We missed two absolute sitters. Connor Collins had one chance in front of goal when he fired so far wide, that he endangered the birds in the trees behind the goal.

"Then Dan Wilkes missed an open goal and everyone began to think it was going to be one of those days.

"But in the second half, we were tremendous and could have won by five or six goals."

Connor Collins got the ball rolling with a goal of the season contender after chipping the Bloxwich goalkeeper from fully 30 yards out.

Stuart Hall netted the second from a corner before Collins converted the third with a rare right foot shot before Ellis Blakemore competed the scoring.

Villa will be bidding for a Boxing Day bonanza when they entertain third placed Droitwich with kick-off at noon.

Droitwich have already completed a league and cup double over Villa this season and Oakes added: "We want to put the record straight and will be looking for a big performance in front of a big crowd."
