FAIRFIELD Villa failed to follow up last week's epic win over Paget Rangers as they crashed 5-2 to Knowle in Midland League Two.

Villa were already 4-0 down before Joe Brookes hit the target through a free kick and then substitute Jack Connolly cracked home a second goal to claw the score back to 4-2.

But that was as good as it got for Villa and spokesman Paul Oakes admitted: "It was one of our worst displays and the lads know it.

"We missed a good chance early on and from that point it was all downhill."

Matters worsened for Villa when key player Dan Wilkes suffered a hamstring injury only for his replacement Ollie Booth to suffer a back problem just 10 minutes later.

Oakes added: "Everything went wrong and all we can do is forget about it and go again."

Villa host strugglers Leamington Hibs this Saturday and should be able to welcome back Lewis Smith and Peter Jenvey.
