ALVECHURCH attempt to bring the Midland League's team of the moment Westfields back down to earth on Tuesday night when the sides clash at Lye Meadow.

Westfields have won all ten of their Midland League games to date but then underlined their excellent early season form last Saturday by knocking Ryman League leaders Leiston out of the FA Cup to reach the First Round proper.

Church boss Ian Long has a special reason for trying to topple Westfields and claimed: "When I was at Tividale, we set a Midland League record by winning our first 13 games and I desperately don't want to see that record beaten!

"Westfields are already massive favourites to win the Midland League this season but this is our chance to stop them and see how they react to a defeat.

"It's a must win game for us as we cannot allow ourselves to fall any further behind them.

"We can only do what we can, but Westfields have pulled clear of us at the moment because we made a sloppy start to the season and we have to start relying on Westfields slipping up.

"It's a massive week for us, because we then entertain second placed Coleshill Town on Saturday."
