BROMSGROVE head coach Dan Protherough wants his players to be more ruthless as they look to secure their first win of the season.

The Boars lost 22-18 at Launceston last Saturday as their winless start to the National League Three South West campaign extended to six games.

Protherough has been encouraged by recent performances and thinks the confidence from a first victory could be the boost his side need to begin climbing the table.

He said: "I really can't fault the effort and commitment of the players.

"They are getting better each week and that first win isn't far away. I think a win will have a major impact on our confidence.

"The players are not being ruthless enough, especially when we have a lead in games. We are handing the lead back too easily.

"I think we also need to take our chances when we get them. Everything about the way we are playing is very pleasing until we get near the try-line.

"Against Launceston we had more ball, more territory but we not able to get over.

"We were also very unlucky with a few decisions that could have gone either way. We spent a lot of the game down to 14 men which made things very difficult."

Bromsgrove don't have a game this Saturday after receiving a bye in the North Mids Cup.

They will next be in league action when they host leaders Camborne at Finstall Park on October 22.
