WINS were thin on the ground for Bromsgrove Tennis Club this week, despite some excellent efforts of the teams.

The Mens F team kept their slim promotion hopes alive with a 4-2 win over Worcester F.

Number one pair of juniors Stuart Shannon and Jim Round led the way with two excellent wins, both in two sets.

The remaining pairs of Martin German and Ethan Oakes, together with Charlie Tait and John Harrop both won a rubber apiece to give Bromsgrove a much-needed 4-2 success.

Remarkably the Mixed C side had the rare distinction of finishing with a tie against Worcester in Division Four.

The combinations of Connie Wedelich-Niedwiedz and Trevor Errington plus John and Linda Casey won one and lost one in two sets.

Countback showed the rubbers even, sets even and games even, which meant the points were shared.

The Men’s E team missed out against Stourport C in Division Eight.

Brothers Dan and Tom Andrews won both their rubbers but only Stewart Roney and Brian Barton could add to the victories as Stourport claimed the winning bonus points by virtue of winning more sets.

The Ladies E side lost out in their Division Seven clash against Worcester’s C side.

Avril Pugh and Chris Mitchell with Yvonne Priestman and Alison Douglas both won one rubber each but they couldn’t prevent Bromsgrove from going down 4-2.
