BROMSGROVE enjoyed a host of success at the County Relays in Wolverhampton.

Despite being the smallest team at the competition with just 17 members, the boys’ and girls’ teams held their own.

The day started with the 9/10 girls’ 4x50m freestyle relay where the quartet of Ryley Malone-Priest, Layla, Ellie Mansell and Emily Bower set three personal bests and made the final.

There was disappointment in the 11/12 freestyle events, where both the boys’ team of Luke Jones, Cyrus Passman, Michael Bray, Seb Perry and girls’ side of Molly Irons, Felicity Gee, Jasmine Kilmartin, Keiva Cheshire, Falan Malone-Priest missed out on the finals.

In the 13/14 boys’ medley relay, James Maycock, Tristan Gee, Jacob Elliot, Ryan Lewis defied all the odds and finished second in their heat with some extremely good personal bests.

In the 9/10s finals, the Bromsgrove girls decided to just go for it from the start and set three more personal bests.

The13/14 boys again proved their mettle, finishing only a couple of seconds off a silver and well ahead of fourth to grab a bronze medal.

In the 11/12s medley relay, Bromsgrove’s boys made the final with Luke Jones swimming his 50m breaststroke split inside a regional qualifying time for next year.

The club’s 13/14 boys hit their freestyle relay hard and, with some PBs, made it comfortably into the final.

Despite putting everything into their swims, they could not improve on their heat position.

In the Nuneaton and District League round three, there were first places for the nine-year-old medley relay team of Abi Salcombe, Layla, Emily Bower and Hannah.

The boys’ 10-year-old medley foursome of Connor Bray, Liam Wang, Ben Collett and Joe Troth and Cyrus Passman in the freestyle all brought home maximum points.

There were also 11 second and 10 third places as Bromsgrove finished third.

In the final of the PGL League, the club bagged five wins.

There were successes for Ryan Lewis, Joe Jarret, James Maycock and Tristan Gee in the 13/14 boys’ medley relay team, and Matilda Anderson, Catrin Carter, Amy Owens and Jess Stanley in the medley and freestyle relays.
