THERE were two home games at Barnt Green on Sunday.

The Men’s B team welcomed Cookley A and sent them packing with a handsome 4-0 win.

Meanwhile, the Ladies A side struggled to overcome an obdurate Ross-on-Wye, who prevailed 3-1.

First up were the men, with Paul Gordon and Chris Linsell rolling back the years to win their matches 6-2, 6-0 and 6-3, 6-3. Martyn Langston and Andrew Yair took a while to rub the Sunday morning sleep from their eyes before prevail - ing 6-7, 6-4, 6-2 against the visiting first pair and 6-1, 6-2 against the seconds.

The ladies of Ross were deter - mined to reap the benefits of the longest journey in the league and used the damp, sluggish conditions to their advantage in the afternoon.

First pair of Jane Hampson and Pauline Harman won one and lost one, but frustration got the better of big-hitting second pair of Beth Harris and Victoria Clipsham, who lost both rubbers to leave Barnt Green waiting for their first win of the season.
