FAIRFIELD Villa have bolstered their firepower after drafting in hot-shot James Ward from Droitwich Spa.

Ward has made the switch to Bromsgrove outfit’s Midlands Division Two rivals and comes with an impressive goal-scoring record. The hitman bagged 26 goals during the 2015-16 season and will fill the gap left by Connor Collins, who joined Halesowen Town after a prolific campaign.

Joint manager Paul Oakes said: “I am absolutely delighted to sign Jamie, he scored a lot of goals last season.

“He’s someone I have had my eye on in over the last couple of years. We lost 14 players over the season who played at least 12 times for us, so we’re rebuilding the team and this is a big step forward.”

Villa recorded their second win in a row in the Midlands Division Two on Saturday when they saw off Coton Green 3-1 away. Youngsters Isaiah Graham-Clarke and Jordan Smart scored, while Dominic Strevens also hit the back of the net.

Oakes added: “We had important players like Lewis Cosgrave and James Finn back on the pitch and it makes a big difference to us.”
