Bolehall Swifts 0, Bromsgrove Sporting 2 SPORTING played their best match of the season to keep their title hopes alive as they came away from Rene Road with a thoroughly deserved two-goal win on Tuesday night.

Bromsgrove kept the pressure on Midlands Division One leaders Highgate United, who hammered Studley 7-1, with an impressive display.

The win ensured the Rouslers leapt up to second but remain six points behind the table toppers with a game in hand.

But Highgate hold all the aces as they know two more wins in their final league games would seal the title.

Bromsgrove started well and opened the scoring in the 31st minute, when Sam Wills dummied a couple of defenders before hitting a superb shot through the narrow space between keeper and post to give the visitors the lead.

Craig Jones' header from a Will Tibbetts' free-kick was going into the top right-hand corner but Hathaway just managed to get a hand to it.

Bolehall managed their best effort of the match on 71 minutes when Adam Goodby forced Jake Bedford into a good save from 18 yards out.

But Sporting extended their lead in the 78th minute, when Simon Fitter floated a free-kick into the box and after a poor clearance, Aaron Williams slammed a speculative shot through a crowded penalty area into the back of the net.

This Saturday sees another away match at Racing Club Warwick (3pm ko).
