LEE Knight has told his Alvechurch players they must get over their psychological block when it comes to finishing.

Alvechurch created and wasted a host of chances in last week’s 1-1 draw at Stourport Swifts and Saturday’s 1-0 defeat to Dunkirk.

While the manager was pleased with the overall performance, he was frustrated by Alvechurch’s lack of killer instinct.

He said: “We were disappointed not to defeat Stourport because we dominated and played very well.

“It was the same against Dunkirk, we had four or five clear cut one-on-one chances which we wasted and we had paid the price for missing them.

“I am not concerned because we’re mid-table and in no danger of being relegated.

“But I am worried we’ve got a bit of a psychological block we need to break through.”

Alvechurch had been undone when Dunkirk bagged a goal late on through Troy Carty.

They had suffered a setback late on when Thomas Giddings, making his debut had to come off with an ankle injury.

While he looks set for a spell on the sidelines, Knight was worried the injury might be worse.

He added: “Tom is a player I feel can play at a higher level if he gets a run of games.

“I was worried it might have been a season-ending injury but it turns out it was not too serious.”

Alvechurch have put seven days in for young Causeway forward Joel Ayetti.

Church lost 1-0 to Walsall Wood on Tuesday and are at home to Loughborough University on Saturday (3pm ko).

Meanwhile in Division Two, Feckenham drew 3-3 at home to Sutton United.

The Millers are unbeaten in five games and occupy 13th place in the table, although they are in no danger of relegation.

They entertain Sutton in the league at home on Saturday (3pm ko).
