DROITWICH Spa must bounce back from their Worcestershire Junior Cup disappointment and look to end the season strong, believes joint-manager Wayne Oliver.

Spa’s hopes of a cup final were dashed when a brace by Fairfied Villa hitman Connor Collins cancelled out a goal by Jimmy Ward.

All the goals came in the final five minutes.

Collins had supposed to be playing for Worcester City but, after their clash was postponed, the hitman, who is dual registered to both clubs, arrived late and opened the scoring in the 85th minute.

Ward headed home from a Chris Higginson corner, but Collins put away an 89th minute penalty as Fairfield avenged two 2-1 defeats against Spa this season.

Oliver said: “It was a shame we didn’t take the game to penalties, it deserved a shootout to separate the sides.

“Villa were the better side but we were missing five players and I couldn’t fault our lads, who played very well.

“We wish Fairfield all the best in the final.”

Droitwich will welcome back James Lemon, Matt Oliver and Mike Seeley for Saturday’s home clash against leaders Coventry United (3pm ko).

“We’re now concentrating on making sure we stay away from relegation and build for next season,” added Oliver.
