DROITWICH Spa continued their impressive run of form as they recorded a second derby win over Fairfield Villa in the space of a month.

Spa made it four wins in a row over their Midlands Division Two rivals with a 3-1 victory.

James Ward had fired them ahead in the 15th minute before Jamie Hatfield had levelled the scores from a set-piece.

Villa then dominated the second half only to be caught out by a late brace from James Lemon, who nosed Droitwich into the lead in the 82nd minute before converting a penalty at the death.

Victory cemented Spa's mid-table position after a dramatic rise out of the relegation zone.

Joint manager Warren Oliver said: "The game was very even until James scored twice late on.

"Fairfield had completely dominated the game but we defended well and took our chances, it was very similar to the win over Paget.

"For us it's just another win but we are building some momentum."

Fairfield suffered a setback as hotly-rated forward Connor Collins picked up an injury which looks as they it have sidelined him for a few weeks.

It's a blow for the striker, who is also registered with Worcester City. He had also been set to play some part against Redditch United last week but the Worcestershire Senior Cup game was postponed because of a waterlogged pitch.

Villa boss Paul Oakes said: "Sometimes you have to step back and have some perspective on a game and I have to say Droitwich were the better team.

"We had almost all our players available although I did have a discipline issue to deal with.

"We had a lot of the ball in the second half but they took their second goal well and the penalty at the end killed us.

"I've got to say Wayne Oliver and Mark Owen are doing a very good job."

Spa go to fifth-placed Barnt Green Spartak in the league on Saturday (2pm ko), while Fairfield have a big game ay Worcester Raiders in the Smedley Crooke Memorial Cup this weekend (1.30pm ko).
