HEAD coach Dan Protherough has said Bromsgrove’s players must keep their feet on the ground after their excellent winning streak continued.

The Boars recorded their fifth straight win in the National Three Midlands as they hammered Sutton Coldfield 36-10 on Saturday.

Victory means the Finstall Park outfit are well-poised in the league in fifth-place, keeping the pressure on the top four.

But Protherough has said his players can’t get too carried away, particularly with a home clash against Burton on Saturday, who are fighting relegation.

He said: “We mustn’t get carried away to be honest and make sure we keep our feet on the ground.

“We’re on a great run but we’ve got to take every game as it comes.

“Burton secured a good win over Bournville on Saturday so they will be up for playing us.

“But I must say the attitude has changed at the club and our confidence has increased.

“A little while ago, we would have gone into games hoping to win and now we’re expecting to.”

While Will Harris is out for the season with an injured cruciate ligament, Bromsgrove boast a nearly full strength squad.

Richard Mahony is a doubt with a cracked rib.

Saturday’s win was achieved despite having Adam Whiteman, Chris Morgan and Tom Hunt yellowed carded in the space of eight minutes.

Bromsgrove were leading 24-10 but two late tries ensured a bonus points win was ensured.

Protherough added: “Unfortunately, the referee yellowed carded some of our guys for infringements that Sutton players also committed and weren’t punished for.

“I was a little worried at 24-10 because another score for them would have put more pressure on us but the late tries got us over the line.

“We didn’t play as well in the second half, so there are still things to work on but I am pleased with how the team is progressing.”
