WHILE many revellers will be suffering from the excesses of Christmas, the Point-to-Point community will see little change to their schedules as the participants prepare for the Harkaway Club fixture at Chaddesley Corbett next Monday.

The meeting has attracted 200 entries with the first race scheduled for 10.30am to accommodate any potential divisions later in the day.

That seems wise with the Non-Rules Maiden and the Club Maiden attracting 39 and 35 entries respectively.

Khyber Kim reached the very top under National Hunt rules, running in the Champion Hurdle at several Cheltenham Festivals, before winning his first two races between the flags.

He subsequently proved a far from an ideal conveyance for his inexperienced novice rider and is now in the care of Phillip Rowley at Morville, near Bridgnorth.

A change of pilot could prove crucial to future success and they are likely to prove far too speedy for their rivals in the Club Members’ Conditions.

Raydini has been plying his trade in Irish Point-to-Points but is now based with Jane Williams at Enville, who has taken over the training responsibilities from her mother Diana.

Hindlip-based Tom Weston took the West Midlands Trainers’Trophy for the first time last season and will be keen to retain that title and success for Soixante Six in the Restricted will help him on his way.

There are some highly-rated horses entered for the Ladies’ Open. These include Bobs Law, Hawkeye Native, King Fontaine, My Flora, Sir Du Bearn, Tartan Snow and That’s Rhythm.

My Flora was a top class pointer but failed to build on early successes when upped in grade. She has changed stables and that could be what is required to rekindle her enthusiasm.

The Rucker family name is synonymous with this course so it will be interesting to see whether Angela Rucker opts to ride Lienosus or Sagalyrique, while her daughter Emily could team up with Stonemaster.

Minella Friend or Triptico could have their first runs for the Rucker stable in the same contest, while Rye Cross was beaten when trying to give weight to his rivals at Barbury but may be a beneficiary this time.
