DROITWICH swimming star Rebecca Redfern was in fine form to win four medals at the GB National Disability Swimming Championships in Manchester.

The youngster qualified as a visually impaired swimmer, and scooped success in the female S13 classification for 50m and 100m freestyle, 100m breaststroke, and 200m individual medley.

Redfern also swam the freestyle leg of the 4x100m medley relay, winning bronze for the West Midlands team.

This was her second major event as a disability swimmer, having dominated her classification at Rugby in the West Midland’s Disability Swimming Championships in September.

It was her first exposure to swimming with world renowned stars of the sport such as Ellie Simmonds OBE and Sascha Kindred OBE – both Paralympic and world champions, and current world record holders.

Redfern has been a competitive swimmer for five years and moved from Droitwich Dolphins SC to Worcester SC in the last year.

She has recently engaged with disability swimming and is on the England Talent Pathway with a view to moving to the GB World Class Potential Programme in 2015.

In the S13 classification she is ranked number one in 100m breaststroke. She will compete at International Meets next year and hopes to qualify for the World Championships in July 2015.
