ANOTHER hat-trick of wins for Bromsgrove Ladies’ teams continued their impressive unbeaten start to the winter season.

In Division Two, the B Team, of Jilly Whitcomb with Sophie Oliver and Sophie Cornelius with Hannah Weston, took on Cutnall Green A Team and came away with a great 3-1 victory.

In a tight match, Whitcomb and Oliver’s win in three sets against Cutnall pair of Thomas and Truswell sealed the victory after Cornelius and Weston had gone down in a close three setter against the same pair.

The D Team cruised to an easy win against Belbroughton B.

Losing only seven games in the eight sets played meant a clear 4-0 win, putting them clear at the top of the table after promotion last year.

The strong performances of Di Wilson with Sheila Richardson and Catherine Maund with Joan McGregor showed why the team is unbeaten this year.

In their first match of the season, the G Team were under pressure to continue the unbeaten run.

Taking on Droitwich F Team, they had a tough battle. Veterans Avril Pugh and Margaret Harris had two tight three-set contests.

Losing the first set in both, they dug in and fought back to win on tie breaks in the third set.

Sue Corfield with Naomi Moore had a straightforward win in their first encounter. They then won again in a very close three-set match won on a tie break to achieve an amazing 4-0 win for the team.

Ladies captain Sally Franks said: “For all of our seven winter teams to remain unbeaten speaks volumes for the hard work put in by them.

“The fighting spirit of our G team in securing their first win in the tightest of contests shows the commitment of the whole squad.”
