PAUL Smith believes Bromsgrove Sporting can go a long way in the FA Vase after they booked their place in the Second Round.

The Rouslers have been handed a tough draw at Derby-based Borrowash Victoria, who play in the East Midlands Counties Premier, on Saturday, November 22 (3pm ko) following Bromsgrove's 3-2 victory over Nuneaton Griff at the weekend.

Smith is confident his side are more than a match for anyone in this competition after knocking out higher ranked Stourport Swifts and Tipton before last weekend's fine display over their opponents from Warwickshire.

A delighted Sporting manager said: "It's great to have got this far, after the FA Cup the Vase is the biggest competition we can play in and I think we've got a good chance of going a long way.

"We've already knocked out two sides from a higher level and then produced a very dominant display against Nuneaton so we don't fear anyone.

"We've been handed an away draw so that's always tough but if we can come through it then we are confident.

"The spirit at the club is tremendous, we train twice and week and everyone is pulling together and our big challenge is also staying focused on the league as well."

The Rouslers boss is set to shuffle his pack for Saturday's Smedley Crooke Memorial Cup clash at Littleton (3pm ko) before they go to Pershore Town in the Midlands Football League Division One on Tuesday (7.45pm ko).

Gary Hay is set for a spell on the sidelines while he sorts out some work and family commitments but is still registered to play for Bromsgrove.

Smith said: "The squad have really bought into my philosophy of having a strong squad and we have 18 players all pushing for starts.

"The players understand that they will not always play so I will be giving one or two a chance on Saturday."

Lewis Clarke and Jack Wilson will be available after they were cup tied at the weekend.
