DROITWICH Spa Ladies top the West Midlands Regional Division One South League after a comprehensive 5-1 away win at Wyre Forest on Sunday.

Spa played well from the outset displaying some good attacking football and soon threatened the Wyre Forest goal.

Good goalkeeping restricted the Droitwich team to a solitary first half goal from striker Sarah Parkinson-Mills.

But they cut loose in the second half.

Beth Roberts eventually converted one of several chances and opened her account for the season doubling Droitwich’s lead early in the second period.

Parkinson-Mills added two more goals, completing her second hat-trick of the season and taking her total to eight, before fellow striker April Polden added a well-deserved fifth for the team.

Only a late defensive lapse enabled Wyre Forest to grab a late consolation goal.

Head coach Ian Fry said: “This was a fantastic all-round team performance.”
