TENNIS: Bromsgrove Men’s D Team are in seventh heaven after a convincing 5-1 win over local rivals David Lloyd Bromsgrove D Team.

This makes it seven straight victories, and with one match remaining the Division Eight title is now within grasp.

Captain Mel McGregor rested himself and brought in debutant Lee Lindsay to partner veteran Alan Colley as third pair and hey had two comfortable wins against David Lloyd’s second and third pairs.

The star performance was from second pair Jack Walters and Tim Roland, who despatched David Lloyd’s thirds pair without dropping a game and then beat their firsts.

Chris Hands and Trevor Errington had a marathon opening game against their opposite pair, but went down 5-7, 6-2, 6-7, before defeating the seconds pair 6-2, 6-1.

It was less good news for the Men’s C team. With many of the regular squad unavailable they went down 5-1 to Worcester C in a Division Four tussle.
