LOCAL honour was at stake as Droitwich Ladies and their rivals from Bromsgrove clashed on Saturday, with the latter winning 4-1.

Goals from Kate Jones, Vicky Powell and two goals from Harriet Finny ensured title-chasing Bromsgrove earned the points in Worcestershire First Division.

Droitwich saw Jasmine Williams scoring after some good work by Susan Williams, with Jenny Gage being named as the home team’s player of the match.

Second-placed Bromsgrove are hot on the heels of leaders Harborne as they push for promotion to the Midlands Feeder League.

Bromsgrove entertain Tenbury at their Trinity High School base, while Droitwich take on Harborne in an away fixture.

Meanwhile, the Men’s senior team played Kidderminster in a friendly on Friday and extended their unbeaten run to four matches with an 8-1 victory.

Tommy Ross scored four goals, while Nick Bates scored a second half hat-trick and Dave Hindle bagged the other.

Spa Ladies seconds suffered a 6-1 loss to Kidderminster in the Worcestershire League Division Three.

Droitwich were trailing 3-0 at the break. Katie Brooker pulled one back before Kidderminster scored three close range efforts. Spa travel to Redditch on Saturday.
