ADE Mander says he now has a squad of 18 players ready for the crucial part of the season.

The Bromsgrove Sporting boss made a number of changes for Saturday’s 2-0 win over Knowle in the Smedley Crooke Cup.

Now he turns his attention to tonight’s Worcester Urn clash at Malvern Town with, he says, a much stronger squad for the experience.

“The lads who have been sitting on the bench needed some game time and to be fair, I felt we still had enough quality to win the game – no disrespects to Knowle. Now, I have 18 fit players ready and I wish I had had this squad at the start of the season. I have been out of this for a couple of years and thought we had a decent side at the start, but we are better now.”

Bromsgrove have been boosted by the signing of Kidderminster Harriers’ Ashley Checketts, who can play on either side of midfield or defence.

Centre forward Chris Heath has been tempted back out of Sunday football; winger Sean Williams has signed from Wolverhampton Casuals.

Jack Wilson should be back from an arm injury in the next fortnight, while Daniel Morris has turned down a move to Studley, but is also the subject of an approach from Heath Hayes.

Sporting are at home to Pelsall Villa on Saturday, as they look to climb into the top three of the Midland Combination Premier.

Mander added: “I have been trying to persuade Chris to come and join us for a while.

“He scored something like 64 goals last season.”

“And getting Ashley from Kidderminster is a bit of a coup for us. Hopefully he will feature at Malvern.”
