BROMSGROVE consolidated the top spot in the West Midlands Division One with a 4-1 win at Bloxwich.
Player/coach Andy Langlands produced a master class in finishing, despite missing the likes of Anton Sieg, Veit Wasserfuhr and Tom Jennings.
Langlands opened the scoring after good work from Matt Russell.
Bromsgrove went 2-0 ahead after Tom Green’s delivery forced an own goal.
Langlands then added a thunderbolt of a third but a bizarre umpiring decision allowed Bloxwich to reply with a headed effort.
Bromsgrove’s in-form hittman then added a fourth goal with another bullet shot after a lovely through ball from Green, who was then sent to the sin-bin for an alleged foot.
Green’s afternoon was ended shortly after with a pulled hamstring.
Captain Laurence Shah said: “It’s great to be top of the league at Christmas but its a job only half done.
“The true test will come when we play the teams for a second time, starting with neighbours Redditch, who will surely be looking for revenge after their 15-3 defeat.
