THE district's cricketers will get the chance to take on Worcestershire and play on their hallowed New Road ground next season following the announcement of a new cricket competition.

All clubs registered with the Worcestershire Cricket Board will be invited to take part in the new County Cup Knock Out competition.

The final will take place at New Road where the winners will be rewarded with a T20 game against Worcestershire in the 2015 season.

There’s also a plate competition for preliminary and first round losers.

Worcester Cricket Board chairman Graham Blomfield claimed: “It’s a great chance for clubs to come up against teams they don’t normally play against.

"It gives players the chance to visit teams from other leagues and divisions.

“Worcestershire have been very generous, not only to offer us their New Road ground for finals day, but to send a team to the side that wins the competition”.

All games will be played on a T20 format and clubs wishing to enter should apply by December 31.

Anyone interested in the new competition can find out more details at Worcestershire Cricket Board website or by calling 01905 337288.
