DEPLETED Droitwich Spa suffered a 2-0 defeat at home to Birmingham-based FC Glades to leave them third from bottom in St Mary’s Midland Combination Division One.
Spa boss Colin Rudge described their display as the low-point of the season so far and claimed: “It simply wasn’t good enough”.
The Spa side were without key players Mark Burrows, Nick Seabourne, Harry Allen and skipper Bren Bartlett.
Rudge revealed: “We had players away at weddings and family occasions. We even had one going to watch Wolves against Coventry City! Hopefully we should have most of the players back this week.
“The objective is to finish mid-table this season and there’s no reason why we shouldn’t”.
Spa host Gloucester League side Bredon on Saturday in the County Cup (ko 2pm).
n Fairfield Villa flopped to a 3-0 defeat at Chelmsley Town in Division One with boss Paul Oakes describing their display as the worst of this season.
Oakes claimed: “We learnt a harsh lesson this week. I had to make six changes from the previous week’s side and this game told me that the players we have on the periphery aren’t up to scratch”.
Oakes has hinted he will attempt to strengthen the side this week and will look to his improving reserve outfit ahead of Saturday’s trip to Midland Combination Division Two’s bottom side Inkberrow in the Worcestershire Junior Cup.
