AVONCROFT kept themselves in the promotion hunt in Worcestershire League Division Three as they defeated Alvechurch and Hopwood by 81 runs on Bank Holiday Monday.
They bounced back from Saturday’s five-wicket defeat to Ross to stay within touching distance of the top two.
With three games of the season left, they are 19 points behind second-placed Harborne.
On Saturday, Croft had won the toss and opted to bat but were then dismissed for 193 in 47 overs as Ross bowlers Harry Porter (4-64) and James Tiffen (5-49) filled their boots.
Craig Hughes top-scored with 40 runs for Avoncroft.
Ross then replied with 196-5, with Will Sach and David James taking two wickets each.
Jack Evans hit 63 runs for Ross.
But they bounced back two days later with a crushing win over Alvechurch.
Matt Hayward and Sach both hit 64 runs as the home side posted a strong 243-9 in their 50 overs.
Sach then took seven wickets as Alvechurch were dismissed for 162 in 35 overs.
Avoncroft take on Romsley and Hunnington at home on Saturday as they look to keep their promotion hopes alive (1pm start).
Meanwhile, the promotion race will go down to the wire after Chaddesley Corbett were held to a losing draw by Halesowen.
With just one more weekend of the season left, second-placed Corbett have only a three-point lead over Cleobury Mortimer.
Matthew Yardley hit 90 runs as Corbett were bowled out for 204 after being put into bat.
Halesowen were restricted to 173-9, with David Perry taking four wickets.
Chaddesley will be aiming to beat Bromsgrove at home to seal second spot and promotion, while Cleboury entertain West Malvern (both 1pm start).
In Division Six, Cutnall Green had to settle for a losing draw against Netherton.
The Black Country team had made 185 all out, with Green making 157-9 in reply.
That was enough to secure second in the table and they complete the season at Ombersley on Saturday (1pm start).
