ANDREW Terry won the men’s title at Droitwich Golf Club’s Stroke Play Championships.

Competitors were forced to work hard in scorching conditions.

Terry won with a score of 143, edging Gavin Bourne into second (147).

He also clinched the Eric Griffin Cup with a nett score of 135, while Mark Jones won the Secretary’s Cup with the same score.

The Redwood Trophy will be decided by an 18-hole play-off after Margaret Archer (75, 68) and Trudi Humophries (71, 72) tied on net scores of 143 each.

n Alice Brooks, 14, set a new ladies course record at Gaudet Luce with 70 gross score of two-under par.

Rob Amphlett was runner-up in the Seniors Open at Weston-super-Mare Golf Club in there Seniors Open with a field of 120 players.
