Scott: We’ll bounce back from poor run

BROMSGROVE Sporting can bounce back from their disastrous run, insists joint manager Graham Scott.
The Rouslers’ title hopes in the Midland Combination Premier Division were left in tatters as they were put to the sword by a strong Nuneaton Griff side on Saturday.
That came on the back of last week’s loss to Littleton, as Sporting slipped to back-to-back defeats in the league for the first time this season.
Despite still being top of the table a host of teams below, including Walsall Wood, Littleton, Atherstone and Nuneaton, all have enough games in hand to overhaul them.
And to make matters worse for the Rouslers, Luke Dugmore slipped at home and re-broke the leg which had put him out of action in October, meaning he will miss the rest of the season.
Scott said: “Our aim was never to win the league this season but when you are at the top-of-the-table you want to stay there.
“Unfortunately, we’ve hit a bad patch at the wrong time, although I would say that Nuneaton are a very good team.
“Against Littleton we had enough chances and made some mistakes at the back but Nuneaton are a good side.
“At the start of the campaign the remit was to stay up but we thought a top-six finish was something to aim for.
“The Premier Division is also a lot stronger than the divisions below and there are some tough teams with budgets in it.
“But we must bounce back from this little run. We will work hard on the training pitch and make sure we’re ready to respond.”
Sporting are also aiming to strengthen squad by the end of the week.
Scott also admitted Sporting’s players had dipped below their usual high standards.
Up until this weekend, the Rouslers had only lost five times all season and they are still in the Smedley Crooke Memorial Shield and Worcestershire Senior Urn.
“Every team goes through a bad run but it is how you respond which is the mark of a side,” Scott added Sporting take on struggling Pelsall Villa away in the league on Saturday (3pm ko).
