BARNT Green running star Becky Straw tasted success at the Antrim IAAF Cross Country event on Saturday.
The teenager, who was competing for England under-20s, dominated the under-17s and junior women’s race and finished in 12 minutes and 43 seconds.
She led from the first 200 metres and maintained a lead of 50m to 60m throughout, before coasting home over the last 400m.
Her win in Northern Ireland was even more impressive as she had been suffering from a chest infection over Christmas.
She now sets her sights on the Midland and National Cross Country Champions later in the year.
Becky has also been invited to race 1,500m indoors race in Sheffield on Saturday, February 9, which is part of the British trials for the European Championships.
