Manager Draper sorry after outburst at fan

BROMSGROVE Sporting manager Keith Draper has apologised unreservedly following an unsavoury argument with a fan during their Boxing Day draw against Pershore Town.

Draper launched an astonishing verbal volley at a Rouslers supporter, who had criticised the team while they were losing 2-0 to their local rivals.

The incident, which continued into half-time, marred a stirring fight back by Sporting who drew 2-2 thanks to goals for Matt Ross and Andy Nicol.

“I can only apologise to the fan I lost my temper with an all the supporters,” said a humble Draper.

“I have already put something on the forum to say sorry but I will also personally apologise to him at our next game.

“That isn’t me, I am normally a very polite and respectful person, I don’t even swear in front of my parents.

“I don’t want people to think they cannot voice their feelings while watching the game, that’s not what I am about.

“It had been a stressful day, we only knew on the morning the game was going ahead so it was late notice for the players but that’s no excuse for my actions.”

Sporting, who saw their game against Bolehall called off at the weekend because of a waterlogged pitch,.

They travel to Stafford Town on Saturday (3pm ko) in the Midland Combination Premier Division.

They also signed former Whitley Bay and Cradley Town man Chris Gleadow, who debuted impressively at Pershore.

On New Year's Day, Sporting defeared Pilkington XXX 5-0 thanks to goals for Andy Nicol, James Turk, Chris Morrison Elliott Nash and a Derek Wilkes own goal.
