RUBERY Ladies confirmed the runners-up spot and promotion to Birmingham County League Division One after an emphatic 7-3 victory over Tipton at Bay Tree Farm on Sunday.

It took 15 minutes for the first goalmouth action, Tipton keeper Vicky Clinton saving bravely at the feet of Kylie Owen.

Seven minutes later Emma Cope shrugged off two chasing defenders to open the scoring for Rubery.

Cope's second came after 30 minutes, meeting a right wing cross first time to put the ball beyond the outstretched Clinton.

Tipton began to step up the pace with striker Kiren Rana pulling a goal back and Hayley Bellizia equalising on the stroke of half-time.

Two minutes from the restart Cope grabbed her hat-trick to put Rubery in front again, only for Tipton to equalise when Laura Bromley in the Rubery goal failed to hold onto a powerful shot from the Tipton striker.

At this point the game was finely balanced with both sides pushing forward, Tipton becoming increasingly frustrated by Rubery's offside trap.

Rubery finally broke the deadlock and Tipton's hearts when Owen latched onto a loose ball to slot home from close range.

Further goals from Cope, Gemma Nicol and substitute Nicky Wilkinson two minutes from time sealed the victory and promotion.
